Reporting on the first-in-humans clinical trial, this 5-year follow-up study confirms that a novel injection therapy using cultured human corneal endothelial cells is safe and highly effective for treating endothelial failure. By the five-year mark, normal corneal function was restored in 10 of 11 eyes, resulting in significantly improved visual acuity and stable cell density with no major adverse reactions.
