This foundational study demonstrated that injecting cultured human corneal endothelial cells supplemented with a ROCK inhibitor successfully restored corneal transparency and increased cell density in 100% of treated eyes with bullous keratopathy. Within 24 weeks of the injection and a brief period of prone positioning, patients experienced significantly reduced corneal thickness and substantial improvements in visual acuity.
